The active steroid ingredient in Masteron is Dromostanolone propionate. The name Masteron was a registered trademark name given by Sarva/syntex in Belgium, prior to the cancellation of the trademark. However, ironically after the cancellation of trademark, Masteron has become more readily available via the underground laboratories and online black markets. Prior to the cancellation, Masteron was more popular in the European body building steroid scenario than in the United States. After masteron cancellation, it ironically became more popular in the United States as well. Masteron is mainly used as pre contest preparation drug, when calorie intake is considerably lower. This steroid is an injectable drug and has an active life of 2-3 days within the body. A weekly dosage of 300-500 mgs is considered sufficient for masteron.

Masterone is also preferred as an alternative steroid to trembolone or Primobolan. Masteron has been observed to be highly androgenic and minimally anabolic. It has similar properties to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) and does not aromatize. Due to virilization properties, male bodybuilders who prefer steroids to increase their body performance almost solely use masteron. Masteron is actually a DHT derivative, so it does not convert back to DHT.

The popularity of masteron has also been largely due to its minimal oestrogenic properties. The steroid shows inactivity in response to aromatase and 5alpha reductase enzymes. Masteron’s anti-oestrogenic properties can perhaps be attributed to its competitive nature at the binding site and the Androgenic receptor site. In the Receptor site, it competes with estradiol, but itself does not activate the receptor. It competes with testosterone in the binding site of the aromatase enzymes. However, this benefit can be attained only when a moderate concentration of the other aromatizing steroids is used and none other anti-estrogen is used in the stacking cycle. For the best effects of a class 1 steroid, it must be used concurrebntly with calculated dosages of a class II steroid. Masteron can also be used in cutting cycles, and for its anti oestrogenic properties it is much popular as a cutting cycle steroid. Masteron can inhibit the aromatization of other steroids into oestrogens. Masterone shows impressive stacking abilities with testosterone esters like testosterone propionate. Trenbolone, Winstrol, Anavar and Equipose are other common steroids that are used in conjunction with masteron stacking cycles.

The popularity of masteron in the bodybuilding circuits is dueto its diurectic and muscle defining properties. Masteron effectively adds muscle hardness and increased bone density to the body muscles. An important consideration of masterone or Dromostanolone propionate is that it does not have much fat burning properties. It is for this reason, masteron usage is preferred only when the body has a low fat amount.
